This year, Chinese New Year falls on February 8. According to Chinese zodiac, this year is the year of the Monkey.

In Chinese astrology, each year is associated with a Chinese zodiac animal sign and also one of the five elements: Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth.  2016 is the year of fire, which is connected to red.    So, 2016 is the year of the Red Fire Monkey.

Fire brings huge energy and determination to the Monkeys. They strive to gain the upper hand and like nothing better than to be at the top of the tree. Being recognized for their achievements gives them greater job satisfaction than money. The monkey is a smart, naughty, wily and vigilant animal. If you want to be financially successful this year, then you need to outsmart the Monkey.

In business monkeys are good negotiators, persuasive and organized, but can get ‘burnt’ by taking risky shortcuts.

Fire Monkeys should remember that there is a saying in China: “The further up the tree a Monkey goes, the more you see his bottom.” If they use their talents and energy well, they can be extremely successful and popular with all.

Good Feng Shui tips for 2016 reflect the unique character of the year of the Monkey.  Because the Monkey symbolizes curiosity and creative energy, it means you can experiment in your home decor.  Decorating in the year of the monkey should be surprising and practical. Incorporating monkeys will bring good luck to your home or office.

Avoid numbers 2, 5 and 9, and use wood, soft fabrics, fur and metal textures to accentuate your designs.  Do not use dark gray color tones but peaceful, noble colors such as red, gold and green. Red is the symbol of energy, happiness and good luck.

Have a wonderful month and Happy Chinese New Year!
